Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and upgrade database server software (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
• Monitor database performance and perform tuning and optimization
• Manage database access and ensure data security and compliance
• Design and implement backup and disaster recovery plans
• Develop and maintain database documentation and procedures
• Perform regular tests and evaluations to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
• Collaborate with developers and other IT staff to support application development
• Automate routine database tasks through scripting or scheduling tools
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in database management

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
• Strong command of SQL and database management tools
• Experience with cloud database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL)
• Knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity practices
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and collaboration abilities
• Certification such as Oracle Certified DBA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or similar is a plus

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes
• Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD for databases
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra) is an advantage
